The history of the HiPP company began with Joseph Hipp (1867–1926), originally from Günzburg an der Donau in Bavaria (Germany). He married Maria Ostermayer in 1897. Over time, they became a large family. First, a daughter was born to the Hipp family in 1898, and in 1899, they had twins. The mother could not feed the three babies with her own milk. So the father had to solve this problem...
A saving idea came to Father Joseph - to make porridge for the children from crushed breadcrumbs and milk. The milk became more nutritious. The twins grew like yeast, as did the other five children born later!
Word quickly spread about the crushed breadcrumbs for children, which Maria Hipp sold in her shop. At the beginning of the 20th century, Joseph Hipp also supplied his products to other bakers. Thus, the bakery gradually became a small factory. For decades, the breadcrumbs were sold in yellow-black packages.
One of the sons, Georg Hipp (1905-1967), was particularly active in selling breadcrumbs. At the age of 16, he went from house to house in Munich selling breadcrumbs. He soon found himself out of place in his parents' company, so in 1932 he founded his own company in Pfaffenhofen.
Georg Hipp and his sons popularized organic farming, producing healthy and tasty baby food without using any chemicals. Choose healthy and organic food for your baby from HiPP!
