Useful information:
What is Lochia?
All women experience bleeding after giving birth (whether they have a caesarean section or a normal vaginal delivery) - this is called Lochia. There are 3 stages of Lochia – usually lasting up to 6 weeks – and mothers need to monitor their progression carefully and respond accordingly.
What are postpartum pads used for?
Postpartum pads (maternity pads) are designed specifically for use after childbirth. For many women, postpartum bleeding is heavier than a normal period, especially during the first 2 weeks, when a level of protection is needed that cannot be offered by traditional menstrual or bladder pads.
How many postpartum padds will I need?
Most new moms bleed for up to 6 weeks after giving birth, so special pads with wings are recommended for extra protection throughout this period. Postnatal pads will need to be changed as needed or every 4 hours, so it is likely that you may need up to 250 postnatal pads during this period.
How many pads should I take to the hospital after giving birth?
If you are wondering how many post-natal pads you should have in your hospital bag, we recommend taking 2 pads of thick post-natal pads (Extra Absorbent) to use immediately after delivery - they should last for a little more than 3 days, so you will be ready even if you need stay a little longer.
